For some reason, because of the layers, every time I see one of these chocolats (yes – they call them chocolats, not chocolates) it reminds me of tiny sandwiches and those rainbow/tri-color cookies. It’s the perfect way to make anyone crave a sweet.

Each bag comes with a dozen individually wrapped chocolates (and one bonus);

green for matcha flavored, and light pink for strawberry flavored. Each chocolate is small but exquisite – the detailed criss-cross pattern on top reminds me of woven bamboo mats.

But of course, the most important part of any food is the taste. These chocolates have a wonderful, savory, rich taste, and the chocolate blends with the maccha so that it’s hard to separate the taste of the two. But in the end, the chocolate melts away so that you’re left with only the subtle, refreshing taste of maccha – a perfect blend.

And if you’ve ever had chocolate-dipped strawberries, or strawberry flavored chocolate, you know how this tastes. The strawberry center of the strawberry chocolates has a sweet, cool taste that lingers, even after the chocolate is gone.

I’ve found that they look nice unwrapped and arranged on a plate, and they’re great for parties.
