Home Made Ginger Onion Tea for Cold Relief

This is a traditional Chinese home remedy for cold, well known to almost all the Chinese families. It is especially good for common cold .

Ingredients

* 1 small ginger, slice into pieces.
* 2 small spring onions
* 5 cups (850ml) of water
* 1 pinch of salt
* Half piece of an Okinawa black sugar brick (about 1 square inch, about 1.7 Oz) .

 In China , “red” sugar is recommended, which has much higher nutrition value than white or light brown sugar.   It is made from pure sugar cane with very little process. It is very much like  Okinawa black sugar brick.

Instruction :

1. Add ginger and black sugar to water, bring the water to boil

2. Bring the heat down to medium, for 5 minutes

3. Add the spring onion,

4. Keep the cover on and simmer for another 5  minutes.

5. Pour the tea into a cup, discard the ginger and onion

6. Cool down a little.

7. Drink when the tea is still very warm
